The city of Ogden dates back to the times when mountain men roamed the area. In fact, the city is named after one of the best known trappers, Peter Skene Ogden.

The latest estimate shows Ogden with a population of 82,702, 39% of which are renters. There are 29,778 households and the median income is $38,583. Although most of the days in the year are sunny, approximately 43 inches of snow and 21 inches of rain fall annually. The high in the summer is generally around 91 and the winter low is about 19. Major businesses include: Adam’s Aircraft, Descente North America, Goode Skis, Kahuna Creations, JDH group, and more. Ogden is also home to Weber State University.

Because Ogden has been around for a while, it has also been able to establish many traditions and attractions for all ages. For educational purposes there is a Dinosaur park and museum, a nature center, Hill Air Force Base, Union Station, and a children’s museum which was actually named one of the top fifty in the US. During Christmas time, many businesses sponsor lights and displays for the whole city to enjoy called Christmas Village. Recreational activities include snow skiing at nearby Powder Mountain, Snowbasin and Wolf Mountain, kayaking in the Ogden and Weber rivers, ice skating at the Ice Sheet, indoor and outdoor swimming, and golfing at one of the seven nearby courses. Downtown, the newly built Salomon Center has hours and hours of entertainment. There is a movie theater, bowling, mini golf, bumper cars and indoor rock climbing, sky diving and surfing. Ogden even has its own Minor League baseball team, the Ogden Raptors.

That being said, there is plenty to do in Ogden. Nearby cities within ten miles are South Ogden, Washington Terrace, Harrisville, Riverdale, Marriott-Slaterville, North Ogden, Uintah and Farr West.
