Clearfield Utah was one of the last communities established in the area and was settled in 1877. The population is 27,463 and there are 8,403 households. Just under half the population rents and the median income is $47,616. Clearfield is like most of northern Utah in that it receives about 18 inches of rain and 36 inches of snow each year. The July high is around 91 degrees and the winter low is 18. Several major businesses have expanded to Clearfield including: ATK, Northrop Grumman, Petzl, Utility Trailer, Lifetime Products, and Smith Manufacturing.
There are several institutions for higher education such as the University of Phoenix and Certified Careers Institute in Clearfield, Weber State University and Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College in Ogden, and the Davis Applied Technology College in Kaysville. Although requiring a little more traveling time, the University of Utah and Utah State University are also within range. Nearby cities include: Sunset, Clinton, Syracuse, North Davis, West Point, Roy, Layton and Riverdale.
Entertainment in the community includes the Aquatic Center with an indoor track, basketball/volleyball court and fitness center, a skate park, and several parks and trails. There is also a community band, choir and theatre for residents to both participate in and enjoy. Many youth from 10 to 14 years old spend their afternoons at the Youth Resource Center. This center was established to allow the youth to get tutoring or just spend their free time in a fun, supervised environment.
